This morning i received an email asking me to be in Florida on the 2nd of April. So now I can get organised! It is very very exciting! I'm very sad that I have to leave my family for such a long time. At the same time I am very grateful to Dr Byrne and his team at the University of Florida and BioMarin for giving me such a wonderful opportunity to take part in this trial.

I now have a new appt for the Consulate on Thursday the 10th of March! Whew!
Well, today was the day for me to get to the US Consulate in Auckland to apply for my visa. I got to the airport at 6.30 am in the dark and the flight was cancelled due to the pilot being sick!
So i came home and booked a new flight for next week then i phoned the airline to refund the cancelled one. Then i got confirmation by email of the refunded flight, only to see they had cancelled and refunded the NEW flight for next week. So more phone calls and got that straightened out! Now i'm just waiting for a call from the Consulate to confirm a new appt time because i didn't have a special number to enable me to change my appt! I hope this isn't a sign of things to come!! This is the first post for my Florida Blog. There has been so much support for me to get to Florida to take part in this trial and many people have said they are interested in keeping up with what happens. So, i'm hoping this will be a great way of keeping all of those interested up to play with what is happening in the day to day life of a Kiwi in Florida.
Tomorrow I go to Auckland to the US Consulate to (hopefully) get my visa which I need to stay in the US for longer than 3 months. This should be the last major thing I need to do before I can book my ticket to Florida. A wonderful part of my visit to Auckland tomorrow is being able to have lunch with my oldest son James. SO excited! :)) |
